According to the centre, schools need to strictly conform to regulations on infectious disease prevention and control and detect suspected cases early for quarantine.

The HCM City Department of Health and the CDC have helped build the disease prevention and control plan for districts with a high number of hand, foot, and mouth patients.

Dr Le Hong Nga, head of the Infectious Disease Ward of the CDC, said that schools that have experienced the disease need to ensure the continuous sterilisation for many days, particularly on things which are directly touched by kids.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is an acute infectious disease, which mainly affects children below five years old. However, to date, a vaccine for the disease has not yet been produced.

Doctors advised that keeping hygiene is the best way for disease prevention.
