Many Vietnamese Covid-19 patients worsen

Forty-six Covid-19 patients in Vietnam are experiencing worsening medical conditions, including 13 suffering very serious symptoms.

They are among a total of around 1,120 Covid-19 patients being treated at 53 medical facilities across Vietnam at present.

 

A Covid-19 hospital in Vietnam


Two of the patients, one at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hanoi and the other at the HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases, are using Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) treatment.

The National Hospital of Tropical Diseases is now offering treatment for 330 patients, including 13 in critical condition. Particularly, Patient 3019, 54, from the northern province of Thai Binh is in critical condition. The patient is suffering from high blood pressure and kidney problems.

Before contracting Covid-19, the patient spent one and a half months at Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi. He tested positive for Covid-19 on May 4 and since May 5, he has been using ECMO. He has also faced lung and heart damage.

According to the Ministry of Health, around 60% of Vietnamese Covid-19 patients do not display any symptoms.
