The goods included 100,000 vaccine doses donated by the Slovakian government, 60,000 doses donated by the Croatian government, 400,000 other doses bought from the Hungarian government, and 12.5 tonnes of medical equipment worth USD 380,000 donated by Vietnamese people living in Hungary.

Between October 8-13, Vietnam also received roughly 2 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as gifts from the United States, bringing the total number of Covid-19 vaccines donated by the US to 9.5 million doses.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of October 13, Vietnam has received about 90 million doses of vaccine from COVAX, bilateral donations, and its own order.

Up to now, the country has administered one dose of Covid-19 vaccine to more than 54 percent of the population over 18 years old and full doses to about 22 per cent of the population. It is expected that by the end of October 2021, Vietnam can achieve a vaccination rate that would shift the phase to a safe adaptation to the virus.
