Northern region to face strongest cold spell so far this year

The northern region of Vietnam has been forecasted to experience a cold snap which would be the strongest so far this year.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, from November 19-21, the northern region would be dry with a lowest temperatures of  between18-22 degrees centigrade. Mountainous areas would see the lowest temperatures of between 14-17 degrees centigrade.

From November 22, the north would have a quite strong cold spell with mountainous areas to be hardest hit.

Temperatures in the northern region in this cold snap would range from 13-22 degrees centigrade. The lowest temperature in mountainous areas would be seven degrees centigrade.

High mountainous areas such as Mau Son in Lang Son, Dong Van in Ha Giang and Fansipan would face frost.

Hoang Phuc Lam, deputy director of the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, said that the strongest cold weather would focus mostly from December to February next year.

From now to the year, there would be 1-2 storms on the East Sea, which would directly affect Vietnam’s southern localities.
