Two die following Covid-19 vaccination in Thanh Hoa
Two people have died and some others have shown strong reactions after receiving Covid-19 vaccines in Thanh Hoa Province.
According to a report from Thanh Hoa Provincial Health Department, the incident occurred at Nong Cong District Healthcare Centre on November 23 when a group of workers from the Vietnam Kim Viet Footwear Company were given the second dose of the Vero Cell Covid-19 Vaccine.
"Some workers showed side effects after receiving the vaccine including five having strong reactions which meant they had to be sent to Nong Cong District General Hospital for first aid treatment," the report said. " The five workers were then transferred to Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital where they received intensive care and treatment but two of them died on the morning of November 24."
Thanh Hoa Provincial Health Department has sent a report to the Ministry of Health and is conducting an investigation into the incident.
Vietnam has received and allocated a total of 135 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, including 48.50 million doses of Sinopharm's Vero Cell, 46.70 million doses of AstraZeneca, 33.30 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna and the remainder being Abdala and Sputnik V.
As of November 23, the country had successfully administered 111 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine with nearly 43.6 million people fully vaccinated.
