Additional 13,670 Covid-19 infections confirmed on Friday
Vietnam reported an additional 13,670 Covid-19 infections on Friday with over half of the number found in the community, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 13,661 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 59 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,311), Can Tho (982), Hanoi (791), Soc Trang (791), Tay Ninh (779), Dong Thap (608), Binh Thuan (581), Ben Tre (571), Vinh Long (564), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (560), Dong Nai (496), Ca Mau (489), Binh Phuoc (477), Khanh Hoa (450), Kien Giang (350), Bac Lieu (334), Binh Duong (302), An Giang (285), Tra Vinh (226), and Binh Dinh (204). There were nine imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed a decrease of 16 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 8,628 infections found in the community.
As of Friday evening, 1,275,518 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (475,182), Binh Duong (283,589), Dong Nai (88,726), Long An (38,516), and Tay Ninh (30,904).
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,280,780. The country now stands 35th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On December 3, an additional 1,149 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 1,006,459.
On Friday evening, a further 200 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 25,858. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (68), Dong Nai (22), An Giang (16), Binh Duong (14), Can Tho (13), Tay Ninh (10), Tien Giang (9), Kien Giang (8), Vinh Long (7), Long An (7), Binh Thuan (5), Dong Thap (4), Bac Lieu (3), Soc Trang (3), Binh Phuoc (2), Hanoi (2), Ca Mau (2), Ninh Thuan (1), Ha Giang (1), Hoa Bình (1), Lam Dong (1), and Hau Giang (1).
Vietnam on December 2 administered more than 710,914 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 125.85 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 53.22 million people having received two doses.
