Authorities in Hanoi have approved a project to build a parking lot in order to meet sharply increasing parking demand.

New parking lot will partly ease the shortage

The Gia Linh parking lot will occupy 6,000 square metres in Tran Phu ward in the outlying district of Hoang Mai.

Gia Linh Trade Co., Ltd plans to invest VND18 billion (USD862,688) in construction for the facility, which will be able to accommodate around 200 vehicles.

The firm plans to start building the parking lot in the first quarter of 2012, with an expected completion date of one year.

Currently in Hanoi, parking spaces are in great demand because of the great increase in the number of personal vehicles in recent years.

Many people in the capital city say that, although buying a car is difficult and expensive, finding a place to park it can be just as much of a challenge.
