The 52-year-old man last Monday was urgently transited to Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases with serious pneumonia after having treatments at some local healthcare centers.

Medical test at the hospital then showed that the man had been infected with H1N1 influenza virus.

So, although being intensively treated with antibiotic and tamiflu, the patient succumbed to death one day later.

Since there have been some cases infected with the disease recently, people who have influenza symptoms should have a healthcare check at local hospitals for timely treatments if necessary, said doctors at the hospital.
