Chinese national Feng Yong, 39, faced prosecution for allegedly violating labour safety regulations.
On May 1, an explosion at the company’s factory in Vinh Cuu District killed six workers including one Chinese and five Vietnamese, and injured five others.
Reports from the Dong Nai Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs showed that technical issues with the boiler were detected on April 30 and the company contacted the equipment supplier for maintenance.
When the company's technical staff went in to check and operate the machine the next day, it suddenly exploded.
The inspection team said that as a director, Feng Yong had failed to carry out quality verification following maintenance.
Another seven foreigners involved in the case have also been banned from leaving Vietnam as part of the ongoing investigation.
