Vietnamese firms started building a VND2 trillion (USD95 million) private hospital in Hanoi on May 10, the biggest of its kind in country.

An Sinh Hanoi Hospital project

The An Sinh Hanoi Hospital will cover 2.5-hectare area on Me Tri Street, Tu Liem District, Hanoi. It will have 500 beds and “international standard” technology and treatment systems.

The first part of the two-phase project, which will hold 300 beds, is expected to become operational in late 2013.

The hospital’s administrators will work with Hanoi Medical University as well as foreign medical institutions to ensure a supply of qualified staff.

Speaking at the breaking-ground ceremony, Minister of Health, Nguyen Quoc Trieu said, An Sinh Hanoi Hospital wouldl help to ease the current overload of hospitals in Hanoi and surrounding areas, and improve the quality of health care in the city.

Investment capital for the project came from An Sinh Private Hospital Company, Lac Hong Investment Company and private investor Nguyen Huy Luong.

In order to improve medical services and meet rising demand, Hanoi plans to build four more general hospitals with 1,000 sickbeds each in districts of Me Linh, Dan Phuong, Gia Lam and Phu Xuyen.
