On October 10, 2016, Dung asked the firm’s management board for 15 days leave so that he could have time to resolve some family issues. However, he did not mention where he would be during the holiday time.

The company agreed to allow Dung have nines day off between the 10th and 20th on October, the remaining days’ leave he had for this year. Dung was requested to return to work after the holiday finished.

However, after the conclusion of the first holiday period, Dung asked for the permission to join an MBA training course at Singapore’s SP Jain School Of Management University. The six-month course started on October 20, 2016.

PV Power rejected Dung’s proposal to join the course and contacted him through phone and email several times as well as sending documents requesting him to come back to work to solve issues related to him. However, Dung has not yet returned to the company since October 21 this year.

The press release stated that due to absence related to the labour discipline violations, Dung has been fired from the position PV Power Deputy General Director.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has urged PV Power to strictly deal with Dung’s violations.

Dung is said to have been involved in implementing ethanol fuel projects which have caused big losses.

PV Power, a wholly-invested affiliate of PetroVietnam, was set up in 2007 with a registered capital of VND13 trillion. It has carried out many big projects such as Vung Ang 1, Ca Mau and Nhon Trach thermal power plants.
