Vietnam's first Apple Premium Reseller store to open
The first Apple Premium Reseller store and Apple Service Provider in Vietnam will open in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Apple Authorised Resellers are those which sell multiple products from multiple brands at the same stores while the Apple Premium Resellers sell only Apple products. In order to become Apple Premium Resellers, the reseller must have their own store in a prime location.
This new move will pose a huge challenge to FPT. Nguyen Bach Diep, chairwoman of FPT Retail, said they were planning several strategies to ensure the group's double-digit growth rate. One of them is expanding Apple stores and boosting online sale.
According to Diep, there are 480 Apple stores in Thailand. Vietnam has only had 15 stores while it in the top 3 South East Asian countries that use Apple products the most. Apple CEO Tim Cook once said that Vietnam was one of the fastest growing markets. FPT hoped to open 100 Apple stores in Vietnam in the next three years.
Authorised retail stores by Apple will help prevent copyright infringement. Last year, Apple also stepped up to protect their brand in Vietnam by banning stores from using their logo and name and asked authorised stores to not repair iPhones bought from unknown sources.
Authorised stores have refused to provide repair and maintenance services for iPhones without invoices and bills.
