Firework displays welcome the Year of the Goat

Thousands of people gathered across Vietnam to watch the fireworks that were lit to herald the start of the Year of the Goat.

Some 100,000 residents and visitors lined the Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi for the lunar new year's display in the heart of the capital city.

Huge crowds also took to the Nhat Tan and Long Bien Bridges in Hanoi to witness the firework display for celebrations.

A 15-minute firework show over the newly-built Nhat Tan Bridge at 12pm on the arrival of the Lunar New Year is one of the most spectacular sights in Vietnam.
