HCM City People’s Committee has just approved a VND 51 billion(USD 2.3 million) -project to restore the Giac Vien Pagoda on Lac Long Quan Street in District 11.
Giac Vien Pagoda stands out for its elegant and classic designs and sophisticated carved patterns
The 200 year-old pagoda, which is also known as Ho Dat, is a unique architectural work with great religious value. It was recognised as a national historical and cultural heritage since 1993.
However, the pagoda has deteriorated with time. A report from the people's committee showed that some pillars had weakened and many parts of the tile roofs were damaged. They, along with terraces, walls and surrounding fences, will be restored.
