Organized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the contest aims to introduce Vietnamese culture and people to foreigners, raise awareness of tourism among the community, attract more tourists to Vietnam, and promote domestic tourism, contributing to making tourism a spearhead economic sector. It is also in celebration of the 58th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Tourism (September 7, 1960 - September 7, 2018).

The contest, the eighth of its kind, is open to Vietnamese citizens at home or abroad, foreigners living and working in Vietnam, and professional and amateur photographers of all ages, who are to capture the beauty of the land and the people of Vietnam through creative angles on travel, destinations, culture, life, and so on.

In addition, for the first time, digital submissions and jpg images are permitted, as a way of staying abreast of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) and supporting entrants. They can follow specific directions at www.anhnghethuatdulich.com and must submit entries no later than June 10.

An awards ceremony and an exhibition will be held in July. There are one first, two second, three third, and five consolation prizes. First prize is VND15 million ($650) in cash and an outbound tour from the sponsor.

The contest was first launched in 1990, with the latest one held last year under the theme “Vietnam Today”, which attracted 5,500 works, including color and black & white photos.
