Akzo Nobel supporting fresco project
AkzoNobel, the global paint and coating company and the manufacturer of Dulux and Maxilite paint, is involved in a fresco project representing the beauty of the sea and islands of Vietnam with the theme “Fresco for the Future”, helping to restore the appearance of Canh Duong fishing village in central Quang Binh province.
“Fresco for the Future” has attracted the participation of professional artists and passionate young artists to paint 30 frescoes in an impressive 3D style with a variety of themes that showcase the special features of the local culture.
The project aims to express the beauty of the sea and islands in Vietnam and promote local tourism, combing preservation of local cultural heritage with modern frescoes.
“The project is a unique initiative that not only helps refresh the appearance of Canh Duong fishing village but also contributes to boosting the local economy, because Canh Duong has nearly 400 years of history and many interesting sights, such as Whale Temple and Ancestral House,” said Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the GIUN9 Art Center. “We are delighted to be working with AkzoNobel Vietnam, which inspires artists to create colorful and lively frescoes.”
AkzoNobel Vietnam is providing paint products from its line of premium exterior Dulux Weathershield paint, which helps the artists create vibrant frescoes. Dulux Weathershield is a outstanding paint line that not only helps change the appearance of walls but also provides optimal protection from harsh weather conditions.
“At AkzoNobel, sustainability is business and business is sustainability,” said Ms. Pamela Phua, General Manager of AkzoNobel Paint Vietnam. “Accompanying this project demonstrates AkzoNobel’s commitment and effort in providing optimal solutions for improving well-being as well as confirming the leading position of AkzoNobel in activities oriented towards the sustainable development of the community.”
With the key message being to protect Vietnam’s sea and islands, “Fresco in the Future” will bring a change to Canh Duong fishing village in particular and Quang Binh province in general, transforming the natural disaster-prone land into a colorful paradise and attracting domestic and international visitors to come and relax, enjoy great seafood, and take in the beauty of the local area.
AkzoNobel will continue to work with organizations in Vietnam to conduct practical projects that will make people lives more livable and inspiring.
Artists have completed more than 20 frescoes so far and are working quickly to finish the remainder, with completion set for early March.
