Authorities in Da Lat have launched a new tourism app, Dalatcity, to serve tourists better.

New app provides tourists with useful information to discover the central highlands' city.

It is part of the “Building Da Lat into a smart tourist city” project, one of the activities held to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the establishment and development of the central highlands’ city. The app is also set to help connect residents, tourists, businesses, and State management agencies.

Visitors can download the app to obtain information on tourist attractions, accommodation, and popular shops and restaurants in the city. It also recommends local food, upcoming events, and nighttime activities.

Visitors can connect to the internet at a number of areas in Da Lat, such the night market, the Hoa Binh area, Ong Dao Bridge, and Lam Vien Square.

Free wi-fi in the center of the city is able to meet the demand of 20,000 users and will continue to be expanded to other areas in the near future.

Situated 1,500 meters above sea level on the Langbiang Plateau in the southern reaches of the central highlands, Da Lat is endowed by nature with an average annual temperature of 25C and beautiful landscapes surrounded by mountain ranges and forests, especially pine forests. It’s decorated with colorful carpets of flowers everywhere, from large fields in valleys to street sidewalks, and is home to over 40 different species of chrysanthemums, 15 species of roses, and about 300 varieties of orchids. It’s also known as one of Vietnam’s most poetic spots and is charmingly described as the “City of Love”, the “City of Thousands of Pine Trees”, the “City of Mist”, and, most commonly, the “City of Flowers”.

Da Lat welcomed some 6.5 million visitors in 2018, including 485,000 foreigners, up 10.3 per cent and 21.3 per cent against 2017.
