Chefs face Nghe An eel challenge

Up to 25 Vietnamese and foreign chefs will gather to make around 50 different dishes from eels in the northern central province of Nghe An.

This is among contents of the upcoming the International Culture Gastronomy Tourism Festival - Nghe An 2019 scheduled to take place on July 17-21 in Vinh City.

Nguyen Manh Cuong, Director of the provincial Tourism Department, said that this will be the largest-ever festival of its kind in the province. Besides provincial businesses, more than 20 provinces and cities nationwide, and participants from Laos, Thailand, Russia, China, Japan and South Korea have also registered to join the festival.

Initially, just some 80 stalls were expected to be displayed, but to date, up to 120 have been filled.

At the festival, 25 Vietnamese and foreign chefs will use Nghe An eel to make around 50 different dishes to serve visitors.

Meanwhile, hundreds of food specialities of localities nationwide will be showcased, along with tastings of local special dishes and dishes from other Vietnamese localities and abroad, a beer area; and a Vietnamese folk and contemporary culinary culture value chain area.
