Cho Lon night street opening proposed
HCM City District 6 authorities have proposed launching a night street in Cho Lon or Binh Tay area to attract more tourists.
According to the District 6 People’s Committee, the locality has night entertainment and shopping services, however, they need to be managed more professionally. Organising night economic and cultural activities linked to tourism development is necessary. The Cho Lon Night Market is expected to become a destination, attracting residents and tourists. Visitors will have a chance to explore the life of the ethnic Chinese community in the area.
District 6 Vice Chairwoman Vuong Thanh Lieu said that the Cho Lon night street will be connected to several night economic areas in District 11 and District 5, including Ha Ton Quyen dumpling street, the Hai Thuong Lan Ong Night Market and the culinary street on Chau Van Liem Street.
"The night street would use the pavement of Nguyen Huu Than, Thap Muoi, Le Tan Ke and Tran Binh streets with a total area of 1,510 square metres. It will be divided into seven zones to accommodate 41 stalls.
The street night will be operated from 6-12 pm every day.
Binh Tay is a fruit wholesale market in HCM City and is also home to a network of eateries featuring Chinese-style food.
