Quang Binh to open tours to newly-discovered cave

Quang Binh Province’s authorities on June 29 licensed a local company for operating a tour route to two caves, including one among 57 newly-discovered caves.

Under the licence, from mid-July this year, Oxalis Ltd. Company will conduct tours to the Tien 1 and 2 caves. Tien 1 Cave which was discovered in 1994. There some 300m between the two caves.

 

Tien 2 Cave

Tien 2 Cave is 2,519 metres long, 30m high and 94m deep.

A 13-person team, including members of the British Cave Research Association, forest rangers and experts from Vietnam National University, Hanoi explored 57 caves in 14 different areas in Quang Binh Province, with the majority located in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

Since 1990, Howard Limbert and experts from the British Cave Research Association have conducted several explorations in Quang Binh Province. To date, they have discovered 311 caves, including many which have become famous tourist sites such as Soon Dong and Hang Va and Nuoc Nut.
