“We are very happy to see the support of viewers for the first show on the street. We carefully selected the items which were performed with attractive dances, music and acting”, said Meritorious Artist Nguyen Hoan.

Hoan added that the theatre will hold two classical Vietnamese opera shows on the street per month.

Hat boi is often referred to as classical Vietnamese opera and is influenced by Chinese opera.

It is distinct from the older Hat cheo genre of Vietnamese theatre which combines dance, song and poetry, and the more modern Cai luong folk musical.

Bui Vien Street is pedestrianised from 7 pm to 2 am on Saturdays and Sundays with various activities including music shows, traditional games and food stalls as well as souvenir shops will be set up to attract tourists.

Vehicles are banned starting from the intersection with De Tham Street to Do Quang Dau Street. Businesses are only be allowed to operate on the pavement.
