A recent inspection revealed a number of misconducts in affiliated programmes of Vietnam National University, branch in Hanoi in the period between 2006 and 2010.

Wrongdoings at National University revealed

The inspection of the management of state agencies in affiliated education and training programmes revealed 16 out of 20 programmes do not have the documents to confirm the legal status of the affiliate or lack of required project details.

The bachelor's degree programme at the Center for Educational Technology and Career Development (ETC), under National University in Hanoi with Griggs University requires a minimum university admission score from the Ministry of Education and Training. However the dossiers of students in the programme do not include their scores.

In 11 MBA programmes run with Belgian, American and Chinese universities, students have been granted degrees without writing or protecting their graduate theses.

The Government Inspectorate proposed that the Prime Minister to rescind over 2,000 Bachelor and MBA degrees from these programmes. The inspectorate also asked for a thorough inspection of the school's finance and training programmes.

The case of ETC will be investigated by the Bureau of Corruption Criminal Investigation.

ETC is an official member of Vietnam National University in Hanoi, and has been in operation for seven years. It has partnered with many well-known universities, such as the University of Delaware, Griggs University and Newscattle University.

The inspection concluded that most of these partner schools were either unrated or to had lower rankings than Vietnamese' schools.
