Specifically, APU International School in District 11 is offering a promotion, asking for a total tuition fee package of VND1 billion ($48,000) for 12 school years, and this sum will be refunded to students after the 12 years. This offer is quite attractive compared to total school fees of over VND2.3 billion for 12 school years if collected separately at this school.

Canadian International School (CIS) is also offering a similar program with a total tuition of $44,000 for 12 school years. After 12 consecutive years of studying at CIS, students will receive a full refund of this amount.

According to CIS’s website, the total tuition fees from kindergarten class to grade 12 amount to VND3.7 billion based on the level for the 2012-2013 school year.

CIS will also give 100 scholarships equivalent to 30% of the school fees for first students registering for the bilingual education during the time of studying there.

According to an expert, by offering such huge promotions, international schools want to retain students as the trend of moving from one school to another is quite popular.

HCMC is home to nearly 30 international schools which teach foreign curriculums, and these schools are opening more branches.

CIS has set aside VND500 billion to develop a boarding school in Nha Be District. Meanwhile, Australian International School (AIS) has recently opened a kindergarten in District 2, with a discount of 20% on tuition fees and another 20% discount for the first 20 parents registering at the school for their children.
