Chu Van An’s student wins English contest's 1st prize

Nguyen Linh Nga, a 11th grade student from Chu Van An High School received the top award at the second Olympic English Contest for Hanoi High Schools held in the city on December 6.

Ten candidates from five high schools, namely Australia-Vietnam, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Dinh Tien Hoang, Chu Van An and Hanoi-Amsterdam passed into the final round.

For the first part of the final round, the contestants took 20 questions on culture, grammar, world geographic, logical thought and world cuisine. The top 5 contestants then moved to the eloquence contest.

Nguyen Linh Nga from Chu Van An High School was the only female contestant passed into the top 5 round, but she convincingly won the highest prize worth VND10 million (US$556) with confidence and impressive skills.

The second prizes went to Hoang Phuc Khanh Long (from Chu Van An High School) and Bach Hoang Phuc (Hanoi-Amsterdam High School). The third prizes went to Phan Le The Hoan (Dinh Tien Hoang High School) and Dang Chan Nhan (Australia-Vietnam High School).

In addition, colourful performances by high school students added flavour to the event.
