France helps Vietnam evaluate universities
Four Vietnamese universities will be the first to be evaluated and tested by the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Hceres) from France.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the National University of Civil Engineering, Da Nang University of Technology and HCM City University of Technology will be the first to get a European evaluation.
The four universities have to prepare self-reports in accordance with Hceres' standards since last April and submitted the reports in January. Hceres will review the reports. It also sent a team to Vietnam and concluded that the universities had met the requirements to start the evaluation process.
PFIEV was started in 1999 as a joint training programme to train high-level engineers and managers for key economic areas in Vietnam.
13 courses have graduated since and all 16 teaching programmes are tested and evaluated by the CTI, a French engineering accreditation institution. In March 2016, a CTI team arrived in Vietnam for the third evaluation and recognised PFIEV's engineering degree for the 2016-2022 period.
Hceres is a member of European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education. Asides from evaluating French education institutes and research bodies, it may also take part in evaluating foreign or international research and higher education organisations, under European or international co-operation programmes or at the request of the authorities.
It evaluates around 50 bodies, 600 university training programmes and 300 master and doctoral training programmes annually.
