The information was announced at a press briefing to launch the programme in Hanoi on April 4.

Accordingly, there will be a maximum of five top prizes worth VND100 million each, awarded to the most outstanding works and innovations for education, as well as a maximum of 15 prizes worth VND10 million each for the finalists, alongside a series of other valuable awards.

Differing from the two previous seasons, this year’s event has been organised with two new features in the award structure including a monthly online poll and an award for localities and the Youth Unions with the largest number of participants.

Permanent Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Nguyen Anh Tuan, who is also a representative of the competition’s Steering Committee, said that the aforementioned online voting and unit prizes would create the motivation for competition among individuals and units inside and outside the country.

The annual event continues to search for initiatives in three categories of innovation in teaching and learning methods; inventions for teaching, learning, and research; and research in the field of educational science. The works will be selected based on novelty and feasibility.

The organisers are open to applications from today, April 4, to September 30. File submissions should be sent to trithuctrevigiaoduc@gmail.com, including a registration form, summary of the initiatives, the full pack of annexes, photos, illustrated video clips and technical drawings attached (if any); and a semi-portrait photo. The online voting starts from October 5-10 at http://trithuctre.doanthanhnien.vn.

Every month, the Organising Committee will select the work to have received the most online votes for a prize worth VND2 million. The programme to receive the highest number of online votes during the contest will receive certificates and VND10 million.

Also at the launch for the 2018 event, organisers presented the decision to support the two most outstanding projects at last year’s event, namely "Applying the international debate in teaching and learning in high school" by Pham Hoang An and the "Open Classroom Education Development Platform" by Nguyen Huu Hai.

The Young Intellectual for Education Programme was launched by the Youth Union in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training, Thien Long Group, and Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper in 2016. In 2017, the programme was expanded to include Vietnamese citizens under 35 years of age living abroad. Last year’s event received up to 329 applications, including two from Vietnamese students in Thailand and Hungary.
