The event marked the 36th Vietnam Teacher's Day on November 20. The 133 teachers are from nurseries, primary, secondary and high schools across Vietnam, the rest are from vocational schools and universities under the Ministry of Education and Training.

Many teachers and managers were invited to attend the ceremony in Hanoi. Deputy Minister Nguyen Huu Do gave the certificates of merit to the teachers at the ceremony.

Do said "The education sector has seen many achievements in recent years. Many teachers have overcome difficulties to stay with the children in remote and mountainous areas and devoted to the career. The incense offering ceremony at the Temple of Literature today is to honour their contribution."

Maths teacher Le Thi Loi, a Maths at Ngo Sy Lien Secondary School in Hanoi, whose many pupils won prizes at international and national competitions, has been selected as the representative for other teachers at the ceremony. "Teachers love and are proud of their career. We always try to find the best teaching methods and guide pupils to develop in the right way so that they will become good people and contribute to the country," she said.

Teacher Nong Thi Thao Trang from Bac Kan Province said she was moved that their efforts were recognised.
