Vietnam wins high prizes at International Chemistry Olympiads

All of four Vietnamese students who joined the International Chemistry Olympiads 2019 won two medals, with the team finishing in the top five with the highest mark in the contest.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the gold medals belong to Tran Ba Tan, a 12th grader of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Nguyen Van Chi Nguyen from Grade 12 of Lam Son High School for the Gifted in Thanh Hoa Province.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Dinh Hoang from Grade 12 of Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted in Yen Bai Province and Pham Thanh Lam, a 12th grader of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Nam Dinh Province bagged the silver medal.

The 51st International Chemistry Olympiads was held in Paris, France on July 21-30 with the participation of more than 300 candidates from 80 countries and territories.

The Vietnamese team finished fifth behind China, South Korea, Russia and the US.
