Hanoi and the provinces of Binh Duong, Hung Yen, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang and Son La have decided to allow local students to stay at home and study online from February. The schools will be opened again on February 17 after the Tet Holiday.
Earlier, the provinces of Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Gia Lai and Thai Binh decided on school closures following the Covid-19 outbreak in Hai Duong and Quang Ninh.
In Hanoi, a grade-three student at Xuan Phuong Primary School has tested positive for Covid-19 after being infected by his father. As a result, up to 80 students and teachers of the schools are being quarantined. Luckily, all of them tested negative for the virus in their first testing.
Meanwhile, in Hai Duong, 65 students at two primary schools are also being put under quarantine after two students tested positive for Covid-19.
The new virus outbreak has so far spread to eight provinces and cities including Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Gia Lai, Hoa Binh, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City.
