According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the remaining curriculum will proceed at in-person classes when the pandemic abates. Therefore, schools that are yet to organise final exams are advised not to do it virtually.

Certain educational facilities are not fully equipped with technology infrastructure and other criteria to make sure the examination goes smoothly and there is no cheating, the department explained.

Senior students (9th and 12th graders), however, will continue with virtual classes which they have continued since May 3. The high school and university entrance examinations, set to take place on June 10, 11, will be put off until further notice.

This is the first-time students of all levels in Hanoi have a summer break without finishing their school year.

Meanwhile, many other localities have also permitted local students to have summer holiday earlier than usual, including Dong Thap, Tay Ninh, Gia Lai, Binh Dinh, Vinh Long, Lai Chau and An Giang.

Early this month, schools in Hanoi and many cities and provinces turned to online study due to the country’s Covid-19 outbreak.
