Vietnamese universities listed in THE's Asia University Ranking
Three universities in Vietnam have continued to be selected to the Asia University Ranking 2021 of Times Higher Education Magazine for a second time.
Compared to 2020, Vietnam National University-Hanoi has improved in all areas include teaching (the learning environment); research (volume, income and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); and industry income (knowledge transfer). Citations and research improved by 8% and 7.4% respectively. Teaching and industry income improved by 1.6% and the international outlook improved by 0.6%.
Teaching, research and citations each account for 30% of the score while industry income and international outlook each account for 7.5% of the scores so universities that are not strong in research cannot appear in the ranking.
In 2020, 500 universities in 30 countries in Asia were ranked. This year, 551 universities were ranked.
Universities in the top five are Tsinghua University, Peking University, National University of Singapore, the University of Hong Kong and Nanyang Technological University.
Thailand has 17 universities in the ranking. The Mahidol Univerity had the highest score among Thai universities and ranked at 130. Malaysia had 15 universities with Malaya University ranked 49. The Philippines had nine universities with the University of the Philippines ranked 84.
