Central Highlands forest destroyed

Dozens of old trees in a forest in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum have been illegally cut down.


The damage was found in the forest in Area 486 in Kon Plong District’s Mang Den Town early this month. As many as 26 trees with diameters of 30-80 cm were illegally logged.


Part of the timber had been taken away, while around 33 logs measuring 33,841 cubic metres were found at the site.



Forest management forces are co-operating with local police and concerned agencies to investigate the case.



The forest is under the management of Mang Den Town People’s Committee. 



Kon Plong District has experienced a rash of illegal logging cases.
