Nguyen Phuc Quy Thien was born with many diseases and his life now is extremely fragile.

This unfortunate baby is only 11 months old living at Le Ngo Cat Road, Hamlet Thuong 3, Thuy Xuan Commune, Hue City.

Since he was born, when he would cry, his heart beat became weaker and would stop beating. His parents were forced to take him to hospital for emergency treatment sometimes 2 or 3 times per day.

He suffers from heart disease, harelip, is blind, has deformed legs and was born with 12 fingers.

After staying for one month at a newborn pediatric ward, Thien was taken to a pediatric ward for heart and blood treatments. He cannot be discharged from the hospital because his health is not well and his life is under threat.

Thien often faints and needs emergency aid. Due to his health, he is susceptible to getting sick, things such as pneumonia and more.

Thien’s parents have spent most of their money paying the expensive fees necessary to care for him. Nguyen Bao Hue, Thien’s father, is a driver and Tran Thi Luyen, his mother, works for Hue Central Hospital. Thien’s father was forced to leave his job to help care of him ever since he was born. Luyen goes to work to earn money for a living.

Previously, their incomes could cover only daily expenditures. Now, they have sold all that they can to have enough money for Thien’s treatment fees. They also have a 5 year old daughter to take care of.

Medicine for Thien’s heart disease costs about VND200,000 ($10.5) per day. Hue talked to us through his tears, “We love our son very much but what we can do? We are trying our best to save his life even if we have to borrow money.”
