 >>  Ill, abandoned father worried about care of his children

DTiNews readers have donated VND551 million (USD26,190) to a sick H'Mong man who was abandoned by his wife and in desperate need of financial help to cover growing medical bills and care for his four children.

Pua and his four children when he was still seriously ill

Sung A Pua has chronic transverse myelitis and is now bed ridden. His children are occasionally fed by neighboring villagers, though sometimes they go without meals. The eldest is aged eight, the youngest is two.

Pua's health has steadily deteriorated and, when he could no longer work, his wife left him.

Concerned volunteers rushed him to hospital on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year. Doctors said he was exhausted.

After his case was reported by Dantri/DTiNews, Pua received an outpouring of support from the readers, who helped pay his hospital bills and cover his family's daily expenses. His health has improved considerably after recent surgery.

Pua's health has much improved

Pua will use part of the donation to build a new house, while the rest will be deposited at a local bank to cover school fees for his children.
