>> Urgent investigation into latex plant’s environmental violations

>> Waste-water pollution leaves locals desperate

After being exposed by DTiNews for polluting the environment, a latex plant wrote a letter promising to fix the problems.

Inadequate waste-water processing system

In the letter, sent to DTiNews, the General Director of Ha Tinh Rubber Latex Processing Plant thanked the newspaper for having exposed their environmental violations and enabling the company to identify the problems and find ways to improve their waste-water processing system.

The Ha Tinh Rubber Latex Processing Plant was established in 2006 at Ha Linh Commune, Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh Province. Since then, the company has not treated its industrial waste-water in a proper manner, polluting the water sources of Ha Linh Commune, especially of Ba Khe stream.

The letter claims that the plant had not intentionally discharged untreated waste-water into the environment.

The director admitted that their simple treatment system was what caused waste-water to be released into the environment.

The company also acknowledged that they did not pay attention to environmental protection and had not properly processed waste-water since they began operations.

The company vowed to renovate their treatment process and to take measures to rid the area of the pungent odor which has been bothering locals. The director pledged to closely monitor their activities and complete unfinished procedures to address and fix the violations. They have also promised to build a standard waste-water processing system.
