Students and teachers in the mountainous commune of the central province of Quang Ngai Province are calling for help to build new classrooms.

The Tay Tra District's Tra Nham Commune primary school has two facilities with one of them located at the top of Tra Cuong Mountain which has cold and rainy weather almost of the year. Among the total number of 306 school students, 50 are studying at the mountainous facility which includes two classrooms.

The deteriorating classrooms on Tra Cuong Mountain are built of thin bamboo and mental roofing which could collapse at anytime. In the morning, both students and teachers often suffer from chilling-bone weather due to thick frost. When it is rainy, they have to seek shelter.

Speaking to DTiNews, the school headmaster Ngo Thi Hoa said the area of Tra Cuong Mountain is the farthest and the most difficult place in the commune. The place's climate is very severe all year round.

The two classrooms have three teachers who also cook daily meals for 50 students. Every day, students often have only rice, salt and forest vegetables for their meals.

Grade 4A student Ho Thi Nhu said she had to get up very early to walk a long, tough road to school every day. She and her classmates take lunch at the school. Despite struggling with many difficulties, she always wanted to go to school in the hope of escaping poverty in the future.

The greatest desire of the teachers and students was that the current classrooms are replaced, the headmaster said.

According to Tay Tra District's Department of Education and Training, the locality has nine schools located in remote and disadvantaged areas. The department has asked the local authorities for approval to improve the school, but not yet received a response.
