A teacher in Quang Nam Province who is in second stage of breast cancer is in need of financial support for her treatments and also needs help for her ill husband.

Ngo Cong Son and Nguyen Thi Nhung

Nguyen Thi Nhung, a teacher at Nguyen Van Troi Primary School, found out that she had uterine fibroids three years after getting married. The couple spent all their savings on treatments with hope to have a child of their own. 12 years later, Nhung's first born son was born in 2003 and her daughter was born four years later.

But misfortune befell on their family as Nhung's husband, Ngo Cong Son, became unemployed when the factory he works in shut down. He works as a farmer and sells areca nuts for VND50,000 to VND100,000 a day.

In 2011, Nhung's husband broke one leg and had to stay in hospital for six months after a crash with a truck. Then two years later, Nhung was diagnosed with breast cancer. They sold every valuable to pay for chemotherapy sessions, including their buffaloes and chickens. Son successfully got a job as insurance consultant but since his salary is unstable, their family still mostly depends on his wife.

Nhung cares for Son

A stroke last year worsened Son's health considerably. At first he could still sit up but gradually he lost ability to talk and half of his body was paralysed.

Their brothers and sisters tried to help them as much as they could against the series of misfortunes. Son and Nhung moved back in with his parents as Nhung was struggling to take care of Son, their children and go to work at the same time.

Son is being treated at Cardiology Faculty, Quang Nam General Hospital.
