A new-born baby in Ha Tinh Province is in dire need of financial support after his mother died in a traffic accident.

The accident happened when the mother was in her 36th week of the pregnancy. After being hospitalised, the mother had to have a Caesarean section and died following childbirth.

The one week-old baby Dinh Van Thang is now is still staying at Duc Tho District's General Hospital. The boy's condition has become better after a six-day treatment at the paediatric ward's special room.

A mother who shared the same room with the boy sometimes gives him her milk, said his paternal aunt Dinh Thi Nhu.

His father, Dinh Van Huong, has had to stop work since his wife's death to take care of the new-born baby. Now he has to take care of his three small children and the 90-year old mother who has been sick for a long time. The future is gloomier for the poor family when they are also deep in debt as for many years.

Huong's elder sister Dinh Thi Nhu has also visits the hospital regularly to take care of the baby.
