Nguyen Thi Manh in Hai Duong Province is struggling against breast cancer while doing her best to support her ill husband and their children.

Despite weakening health from breast cancer, Nguyen Thi Manh still tries to find farm work to earn extra income.

Manh's neighbour said her health was weak but she accepted every job offered. Manh has fainted several times in the fields but she always returns. Many people are worried about her but they understand that she has to do something to support three children and 90-year-old mother.

Manh's husband, Tran Van May, is suffering from tuberculosis and cirrhosis and need urgent treatment. "Doctors at National Lung Hospital said my condition was too severe and need to follow the hospital's treatment regimen," he said.

Manh said she understood that her time with her family was being counted down so she must try harder.

"When I was first admitted to Vietnam National Cancer Hospital, I got acquainted with seven people from my hometown but now only two are still alive. I have to accept my fate but my children... It hurts," she said.

Manh decided to not return to hospital nor continue chemotherapy sessions to save money for her husband's treatment.

"Please help my husband. He can still be saved. I can only close my eyes when I know he can live to take care of our children," Manh said.
