Japanese organisation helps disadvantaged pupils

Japan's Shinnyo-en Buddhist organisation have donated more than USD27,000 through the Vietnam Fund for Study Promotion to help poor students and improve education facilities at remote areas in 2016.

On December 12, Junichi Kitamura and Nakazawa Tetsuro, representatives of Sinnyo-en have worked with Vietnam Association for Study Promotion and heard a report on the use of USD27,000 in funding so far this year.

Colonel Nguyen Van Bang, permanent member of the management board of the association said they had given 85 scholarships, each worth USD110, to students at five universities. They also gave 120 scholarships worth USD6,000 and USD10,330 to upgrade Tri Le Commune Primary School in Nghe An Province.

Nakazawa Tetsuro said Shinnyo-en will continue the collaboration with Vietnam Association for Study Promotion to help students, schools and build bridges in disadvantaged areas.

Pham Huy Hoan, editor-in-chief of Dan Tri/Dtinews Newspaper and director of Vietnam Association for Study Promotion thanked Shinnyo-en for their help for the past years.

 

Nakazawa Tetsuro gave scholarships to pupils and students 

Also on the same day, Shinnyo-en held the 10th annual scholarship awards at Vietnam National University in Hanoi. 80 scholarships worth USD24,000 were given to university students and 130 scholarships worth USD26,000 were given to highly-achieving pupils.

Nakazawa Tetsuro said Shinnyo-en aimed to help disadvantaged children in the world and hoped that with their help, the pupils and students at Vietnam National University in Hanoi can overcome challenges for better future.
