Gifts donated to flood victims

Dan Tri has donated VND30m (USD1,300) in gifts to flood victims in Phuoc Nghia Commune, Binh Dinh Province.

On December 19, representatives of Dan Tri the province worked with the provincial Association for Study Promotion, local Red Cross Organisation and communal authorities to hand over 100 gifts to flood victims.

Each gift worth VND300,000 (USD13) including a box of instant noodles, cooking oil, spices and VND200,000 in cash. Huynh Dang Khanh, chairman of the provincial Association for Study Promotion and Le Phong, vice chairman of the local Red Cross were also present.

Water levels have fallen but the road to Tho Nghia Commune is still submerged.

70-year-old Nguyen Thi Hy said, "I'm living by myself. My son is working faraway so I don't know who to depend on. I didn't dare to sleep the night the flood arrived. Now we don't have electricity or water."

She expressed gratitude to Dan Tri and local authorities for their support.

Vo Van Nghia, an official of Phuoc Nghia Commune, also expressed his gratitude. "This is the fifth flood in a month, the biggest one that flooded and isolated three villages. Local authorities have also given support to the people with instant noodles and water but it's not enough," he said.
