Poor ethnic little girl faces leukaemia
A couple in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang is calling for help to save their only child who is on the verge of death due to leukaemia.
Sam Thi Xuan in Thuong Ha Commune, Bao Lac District said that early this year, her four year-old Hoang Thi Hue was diagnosed with leukaemia, causing her great pains; so, she often cries loudly.
Xuan said that she lost the two first children due to miscarriage and premature birth and Hue is her third child.
After the one-month fever, she was taken to a local hospital for the treatment but did not see an improvement. Then she was moved to the National Institute of Haematology - Central Blood Transfusion where she was diagnosed with leukaemia.
The couple has had to sell out everything in her family and gets banking loans to pay the hospital fees, but their daughter is still in critical condition. Every day, they have to eat maize, because they do not have enough money to buy other food.
The five-person family now only depends on two fields but this year, due to bad weather this year, they had poor crops.
Xuan’s husband is often sick after surgery to remove his appendix.
Hoa Minh Duc, head of Na Dua village, said that the village is also poor, so no one can help them.
