Dantri/DTiNews has completed a new house for a family in Ha Nam Province with three mentally-ill members before the Lunar New Year Tet Holiday.

Thinh receives new house

Nguyen Thi Thinh's husband, Nguyen Xuan Truong, is a veteran but ever since he came home, he was diagnosed with mental illness and couldn't support the family.

Thinh's son and daughter were also mentally ill. Thinh's daughter gave birth to a son after being raped by an unknown man. As Thinh turns 80, she worries more about her two-year-old grandson's future and her ill family members.

Thinh's family was given a house before but now it is used as a place to lock up Thinh's son who often wanders around naked, attacking strangers and destroyed everything. The rest of the family lived in a cousin's rundown house.

The Hanoi Beer-Alcohol and Beverage Corporation donated VND70m (USD3,000) for the family and construction of the new house started on October 4.

Unfortunately, both Thinh's son and daughter died one after another in the past three months.

On January 7, representatives of Dantri and local authorities, as well as kind readers, visited Thinh's family when the new house was completed. They were also given VND5m to mark the occasion.

Sumiriko Hose Vietnam Company gives a monthly donation of VND2.5m for five years to help raise Thinh's grandson.

Thinh's brother Nguyen Xuan Dau and Vice head of Dao Ly Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Khanh thanked everyone who helped the family.
