Little girl fights against cancer and necrotic wound
A family in Dak Lak Province is calling for financial support to help treat their six-year-old daughter who is suffering from leukaemia.
Nong Thi Thao, Le's mother, said, "At first she had a swollen lump on her head but we didn't think much about it. Our second child was just born so we couldn't pay as much attention to her. Her condition became worse. The doctors at HCM City Children's Hospital said she had leukaemia and transferred her to HCM City Oncology Hospital since last May."
Thao and her husband are farmers but the majority of their pepper garden died from diseases in 2016 while the corn output was low. Pork prices also dropped that year. Thao borrowed from the relatives and from the black market in order to pay for Le's treatment.
In the first chemotherapy session, the vein in her leg was damaged and turned into a necrotic wound. Le already went through a skin transplant operation to treat the wound but it got worse again when she was about to take the third chemotherapy session.
Thao said they borrowed VND60m (USD2,600) for the third session and didn't know what to do for another skin transplant.
"We still need money for three other sessions and a skin transplant operation. Our relatives don't want to lend us money anymore and the black market loans have such a high interest. But I can't bear looking at my child withering in pain like that," she said.
