Dermatitis-afflicted children need help
A couple in Quang Tri Province are calling for help to treat and raise two sons who suffer from severe head rashes as dermatitis worsens.
There were only red spots appeared on the boys head at first. After hearing the boys said that they felt itchy, Ho Thi To, their mother, only used herbal medicine to bath them but the spots spread and became huge rashes. The boys were brought to the district medical station but couldn't be cured.
According to Chan, two of his oldest children are still in school, Chan and Nghi are the youngest ones. He peels the melaleuca bark and does odd jobs for some money while his wife works on the fields.
Doctors at Quang Tri General Hospital said the boys had dermatitis but due to unhygienic living condition and because they were not cleaned well, it has worsened and posed a high risk of infection. The boys' skins have improved but they still need treatment.
Ho Thi Hoa, vice chairwoman of Ta Long Commune People's Committee, said, "Voc does odd jobs but it's not enough to support the whole family. We hope the community will support the boys' treatment and give them the chance to go to school."
