Dantri/DTiNews helps build kindergarten facilities

Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper has helped build some facilities at a kindergarten in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai.

The VND450 million (USD19,565) facilities were funded by newspaper readers and included six rooms for teachers, a kitchen, a toilet, a concrete yard and a fence at Phong Du Thuong Commune in Van Yen District.

The inaugurating ceremony of the facilities held on December 9 saw the participation of Do Duc Duy, the provincial Party Vice Secretary and People’s Committee Chairman, director of Vietnam Study Promotion Fund and Editor-in-chief of Dantri/DTiNews Pham Huy Hoan.

The school is located some 50 kilometres from the district centre. Many teachers have to go through rough and long roads to the school. The situation is more challenging when it is rainy.

Meanwhile, some teachers who live 100 kilometres far from the school have to hire rooms nearby go to work.

VND100 million was donated by Pham Thi Ninh’s family in Hanoi. 

At the launching ceremony, Dantri/DTiNews Editor-in-chief Pham Huy Hoan said this is the 4th work built by Dantri/DTiNews in Yen Bai Province after the bridge and classroom projects in Tran Yen, Van Chan and Van Yen districts.

To date, Dantri/DTiNews has built 23 classrooms and 15 bridges nationwide.

Provincial Party Vice Secretary and People’s Committee Chairman Do Duc Duy said Yen Bai currently has 6,245 classrooms but only 77% of acceptable standard. Meanwhile, 436 other classrooms need to be upgraded or re-built. The province still lacks 204 classrooms. Yen Bai has set a target to remove all temporary classrooms by 2020.

Duy also presented the school a computer along with gifts for teachers.
