Dantri/DTiNews supports family of policeman who died in floods

Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper have donated VND5 million (USD217.37) for the family of a policeman in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa who died helping people during the floods.

According to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department, Thao Van Sua, head of Muong Lat District’s Nhi Son Commune’s Police Board was buried by a landslide on August 3 he was checking and urging local residents to move away from disaster-prone residential places. He was found dead the following day.

His wife recalled that Sua told her and his children to stay in their house and he called on local people to move to safer places. But he did not return home.

Sua’s father Thao Nhia Thai was extremely shocked at the death. Since then, he has been almost sleepless.

Thai said that his family mostly lives on farming and his modest salary. “How can his wife and children live on after he died?” the father said in tears. 

Lo Van Lieu, vice chairman of Nhi Son Commune said, Sua would finish his on-the-job training course behind in a short time to come.

The newspaper also gave VND5 million to the family of Vang A Lau, 34, head of Sai Khao Village in Muong Lat District who died in the recent landslide.

Muong Lat District is among localities in Thanh Hoa hardest-hit by Storm Wipha. Many houses and schools have been damaged.
