Family desperate to treat son after losing the house to storm
A Thai ethnic family in Son La Province is in need of financial support to help treat their 9-year-old son suffering from brain cancer.
"He is a very good boy. Sometimes, he wanted to eat an orange or to drink milk but didn't say anything because he knows that we don't have money. It pains me whenever I think of him," Quy said.
Quy's family depends on the cassava and cornfields for a living. Unfortunately, the storm in 2017 swept away their house and their belongings. During this time, Thai suffered from headaches but they just don't have time to go to the hospital. When he was admitted, the tumour had grown and he needed to be operated on immediately.
Quy said, "He kept saying that his head hurt but I couldn't do anything. I can't believe it."
Thai also feels afraid after seeing several children died at the hospital. "If I can't go to the hospital anymore, must I also go somewhere else like the others? Can I return to my father?" he said.
Dr Ngo Thanh Tung said not only Thai needed to be operated, but he also needed radiotherapy sessions. They are still monitoring Thai's situation and hope that the community will help Thai.
