Plea to save little girl from brain cancer blindness
A family in Nghe An Province are calling for financial support to help save their three-year-old daughter from brain cancer.
"She's very weak now. Her eyes became even bigger today and there was even more pus. I'm afraid that I may lose her," Anh said.
According to Anh, Mai had a fever, headache and eyesore three months ago. They borrowed money to bring her to the hospital where doctors said she had three brain tumours in dangerous places. After that, her eyes swelled up and look like they can burst at any time. She was later transferred to National Cancer Hospital in Hanoi but the family had to bring her home after running out of money.
Truong Ngoc Mai can't stand up or speak clearly due to weak health. Mai can't see anything with the swollen eyes and is half body paralysed. Mai's father works as a mason but his salary is not enough for daily spending, let alone medicines and hospital treatment.
Doctors said because Mai was too weak, even if they started an operation now, her survival chances would not be high. Despite the dangers, Mai's family still hope to give her an opportunity to continue living.
"What if my child can live on," Anh said.
