Ill family struggles to live on
A family with three ill members in Bac Giang Province are in need of financial support to cover medical treatment.
"It has metastasized," Huong said. "After undergoing the rectum removal operation, my wife can't walk or eat so her health has worsened really quick. The pain returned and got worse so I wanted to bring her to the hospital but we don't have money left."
In March 2017, Huong's son was in 4th grade when he felt tired and had edema. He took many medicines but none worked. When his condition got worse, Huong brought him to the hospital where the doctors said he has nephrotic syndrome and needs long-term treatment. Since then, both Huong's wife and son have stayed at the hospital more than at home.
In mid-2017, Huong fainted at work and was diagnosed with spinal tuberculosis. He had had an operation but after two years in the hospital has pushed the family to the brink. Without money left, they have to live on charity meals.
"My husband is treated at Hanoi's Lung Hospital, my child is treated in Bac Giang Province. I still hope that I will be well again," Hanh said. "Please just save my husband and child. They weren't able to take medicine for months."
But they can't borrow from anywhere anymore so Hanh asked to return home.
Nguyen Van Hau, vice chairman of Ngoc Thien Commune People's Committee, said, "All of their family members are sick and can't work. We and the neighbours called for their help but it was not enough. I hope they will get more help to overcome this difficulty."
